Every year on February 4, World Cancer Day unites the World to raise awareness, inspire action, and advocate for the best cancer care. This year’s theme, “United by Unique,” resonates deeply with the Glioblastoma Foundation’s mission to transform glioblastoma therapy through personalized medicine approach.

Why 'United by Unique' Matters for Glioblastoma

Glioblastoma, an aggressive and fast-growing brain cancer, affects approximately 15,000 people annually in the U.S. alone. Glioblastoma remains one of the most challenging cancers to treat, with a median survival of 12–15 months. The 2025 World Cancer Day theme highlights a critical truth about glioblastoma: every patient’s journey is unique because every patient’s tumor has a unique genomic profile. Treating glioblastoma demands a personalized, targeted therapy, approach that is the hallmark of Glioblastoma Foundation’s strategy to find a cure for this agressive cancer. Today, on World Cancer Day, we are excited to launch a new "Know Your Glioblastoma" campaign to bring attention to Genomic Testing for Glioblastoma.

As we launch our Genomics Testing & Research Laboratory, our goal is to ensure that every glioblastoma patient gets genomic testing for his to her glioblastoma. No two glioblastomas are the same.  Through genomic testing, we can unlock personalized treatment options that work for every patient, so that each patient has access to the best treatments for their glioblastoma tumor.  Cutting-edge molecular and genomic testing offered at the Glioblastoma Foundation's Genomic Testing & Research Laboratory will allow us to match patients to the treatments most likely to be effective for their glioblastoma tumor.
