Repurposing Existing Therapies

DNA for Precision MedicineThe Cancer Genome Atlas project has completed the molecular characterization of several hundred glioblastoma tumors.  These efforts have not only uncovered the extreme molecular complexity of glioblastoma but also identified several molecular targets that may play a role in glioblastoma growth.

Drugs to block many of these growth pathways are already available and can be repurposed for attacking glioblastoma. We support a precision medical approach in which these drugs are tested in patients whose tumors express each target.

We support the research of organizations such as The Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC). This collaborative was created in 2003 as a network of medical centers with the expertise and desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors like glioblastoma.

The current standard of care for glioblastoma consisting of radiation and chemotherapy is ineffective.
